Over 400,000 children are in the foster care system today. The median age of these children is more than 8 years old. Many of these children have faced some form of abuse or child neglect with about 30% having severe emotional, behavioral, or developmental problems. Children in foster care also suffer from PTSD and depression at much higher rates than the general population that are even comparable sometimes to veterans.
At Letters to Foster Children (501c3 nonprofit), our goal is to support children in the foster care, to put a smile on these children's faces, and to give love to these incredibly strong children. Started in July 2020, we strive to make sure that every child feels important no matter their circumstances. Specifically, we ask that you write a letter or draw a picture to uplift those in foster care. Even small actions can make a huge difference. Our goal is to put a smile on every child's face!
